The kids at the Ongoza Njia Community Centre Homework Club, in Huruma, a slum town in the outskirts of Nairobi, have bright smiles, mischievous expressions and an eager need to explore, discover and learn. Poverty interrupts their childhood in various ways. But the volunteers and workers at the centre give of their time to bring the smile of childhood back onto their faces. Most of the time, the kids are the ones who have much to teach the volunteers, about hope, endurance, appreciation of what we have and an ardent desire to be alive and to make it no matter the adversities.

Hi there, I’m a press officer based in the UK and I’m trying to get some coverage for some of our local Capoeira teachers who are going over to Kenya to work with kids from the Ongoza Njia Community Centre and take part in Tandawazi. Would it be possible to please send me a couple of pics of the kids (preferably in high res) so that I can send them out to the media when I send out the press release? I think this is such a great project! I am happy to credit the photographer.
